State Electric Grows Again

State Electric Supply Company, Huntington, West Virginia, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Shepherd Electric Supply Co. Raleigh, NC.

Shepherd Electric was founded by William “Bill” Shepherd in 1947. The company supplies products to residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional customers in the “Triangle Area” and eastern North Carolina. Shepherd has six branches in North Carolina, located in Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Goldsboro, Kinston, and Roanoke Rapids. Shepherd was ranked the 168th largest electrical distributor in the country according to the June 2007 issue of Electrical Wholesaling magazine. The company will operate as the Shepherd Electric Supply Group of State Electric and the existing management team will remain in place.

With the purchase of Shepherd Electric, State Electric now has 13 locations in North Carolina and 40 total locations serving various markets in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Virginia as well as North Carolina.
