Having Problems with your new LEDs working with Dimmers?

Energy-saving CFLs have been in the marketplace for many years but a broad range of dimmable bulbs has only recently become available. LEDs are even newer to the market and dimmable versions are also only recently available.LumeaDim_01_hero

These dimmable bulbs, especially CFLs, have historically presented problems when used on standard incandescent dimmers.

Common issues include:

Reduced dimming range

Lights dropping out

Lights not turning on

Lights turning off unexpectedly

New Dimmers from Lutron

To help combat these issues, Lutron has developed a family of CL dimmers for dimmable CFL and LED bulbs. By incorporating HED Technology, these dimmers improve the dimming performance of dimmable CFLs and LEDs.

Get the Facts from Energy Star

One small switch:

Switching from traditional lighting to ENERGY STAR qualified lighting is a smart move. With energy savings of 75% or more you can save about $6 per bulb or about $14 a fixture annually on your energy bill. The new light bulb standards only require bulbs to be 25% more efficient that leaves a lot of savings on the table.
