State Electric lends a hand in the wake of Hurricane season

October 11, 2018
When Hurricane Florence left the Carolinas and beyond in devastation, Hurricane Michael quickly brought its blow to the same areas while many still had homes and businesses underwater. These hurricanes have soaked electrical systems, and contractors have had their hands full rebuilding people’s homes, businesses, and lives.

State Electric Supply Co. operates in seven states including North Carolina and Virginia. We felt it our duty to supply as much help as possible. Bill Craven, branch manager in Raleigh, began planning for hurricane recovery a week before Hurricane Florence hit. Contractors were already requesting supplies in anticipation of the storm. We utilized the relationships we have with our vendors, who we could rely on to supply extra materials in preparation for the storm.

We used the power of our varied locations and vast warehouses to help the communities that need our supplies the most. Warehouses in Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania were prepared to send materials to the devastated locations in the Carolinas to make it possible for the contractors on site to get to work quickly.

“Our inventory is visible from any location,” said Craven, “so any item can be shipped to any location affected by the storm. We have an inventory management team that is reacting to the situation as needed. In eastern North Carolina, we have an inventory control manager and he and his team are communicating with the branches to determine what is needed.”

State Electric has many locations among many states, but when one area is in need, we pull our resources together to lend a helping hand.
